Salary: R578 640 - R793 812 per annum (plus benefits)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • No criminal record or illicit activity recorded
  • Metro Police qualification from an Institution accredited by RTMC comprising of: Traffic Officer Diploma & Law Enforcement Skills Certificate
  • Relevant Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's Degree on NQF Level 7 or equivalent thereof or Occupationally Directed Education Training Development Practices qualification (NQF Level 7)
  • Registered as Traffic Officer
  • A valid driver's license (At least Code B)
  • At least 6 years' experience, 3 years of which must have been as Deputy Director / Chief Superintendent or equivalent role within Traffic Policing / Policing environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Effective management of traffic law to ensure the minimizing of accidents and determine to promotion of road safety and traffic flow within CoE in accordance to the Batho Pele Principles
  • Manage crime prevention activities within CoE to ensure a safer living environment for all
  • Effective planning and management of By-laws activities to ensure the compliance and adherence to all CoE By-laws for a healthier, cleaner and safer environment
  • Develop strategies / systems and manage policing duties in respect of crowd management, VIP protection and events to ensure the adherence and compliance with the provisions of the Gathering Act and the safety of VIP's and Council properties
  • Effective management of social crime prevention activities to promote road safety and crimes awareness within CoE
  • Manage domestic violence complaints and incidents according to the Domestic Violence Act to effectively manage domestic violence incidents
  • Develop strategies / systems to manage the use of animals in executing policing duties within CoE to ensure effective and efficient up-keep, safety and use of animals for policing and community outreach programs within CoE
  • Effective management of administration functions to ensure an efficient and effective administration process that promotes a good image of EMPD that is to be upheld through public relations and in accordance to the Batho Pele Principles
  • Manage, plan, coordinate, develop and administer various training programs and projects to ensure the effective implementation and execution of overall training and operational strategy in alignment with tactical planning and legislative requirements

Note: The successful candidate who does not have the NQF Level 5 Finance Management qualification will be required to obtain it within 18 months, in terms of the National Treasury Requirement.
