Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • No criminal record or illicit activity recorded
  • Metro Police qualification from an Institution accredited by RTMC comprising of: Traffic Officer Diploma & Law Enforcement Skills Certificate
  • Relevant National Diploma / Diploma on NQF Level 6 or equivalent thereof
  • Registered as Traffic Officer
  • A valid driver's license (At least Code B)
  • 3 years' experience as Chief Superintendent / Superintendent or equivalent role

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan and ensure traffic law enforcement to ensure the minimizing of accidents and oversee the promotion of road safety and traffic flow within CoE in accordance to the Batho Pele Principles
  • Plan and facilitate the implementation of crime prevention activities with CoE to create and promote a safer living environment for all
  • Plan and facilitate the enforcement of By-laws to ensure compliance and adherence to all CoE By-laws
  • Plan and coordinate policing duties in respect of crowd management, VIP protection and events to ensure the adherence and compliance with the provisions of the Gathering Act and other related laws and to render protection services to VIP's and Council properties
  • Plan and facilitate the execution of social crime prevention activities to promote road safety and crimes awareness within CoE
  • Deal with domestic violence complaints and incidents according to the Domestic Violence Act to effectively manage domestic violence incidents
  • Plan and coordinate the use of animals in executing policing duties within CoE to ensure effective and efficient up-keep, safety and use of animals for policing and community outreach programs within CoE
  • Plan, organise, lead and control administrative functions under command and execution thereof to ensure an efficient and effective administration process that promotes a good image of EMPD that is to be upheld through public relations and in accordance to the Batho Pele Principles
  • Implement, oversee and evaluate training activities to ensure the evaluation of education, training and development programmes and implement effective quality control required by legislation

Note: The successful candidate who does not have the NQF Level 5 Finance Management qualification will be required to obtain it within 18 months, in terms of the National Treasury Requirement.
