Purpose:

Responsibilities


  • Provide project management support to the Department, monitoring and reporting on implementation and progress on decisions made
  • Assess the Departmental Demand Management Plans and advise on more efficient and effective approaches to ensure successful capital expenditure performance
  • Identify internal and external resources, human, financial, or otherwise required for successful completion of projects
  • Ensure that SOPs, processes, procedural guides and quality service standards are developed, maintained, understood and implemented
  • Manage and take accountability for delivery of contracted work output within prescribed parameters of SOPs, quality standards and service targets to ensure all work is undertaken within the agreed specifications, and projects are carried out according to professional project management practices
  • Effectively assess, intervene and mobilize support interventions for allocated projects where necessary
  • Anticipate problems and resolve these timely in order to ensure that work outputs are achieved within agreed deadlines and standards
  • Establish, implement and manage operational governance and risk management processes in the context of organisational policy
  • Provide feedback on governance, risk and compliance practices and escalate unresolved issues via appropriate channels for investigation and resolution
  • Ensure effective operations management and service delivery within own area of responsibility that subscribes to Batho Pele principles
  • Utilize the MFMA and applicable procurement policies and guidelines to ensure speedy and efficient implementation of projects
  • Contribute to the development of budgets and the compilation of financial and non-financial reports in accordance with the statutory and Council presentation requirements


Job Requirements


  • B Degree in the Built Environment, Project Management or relevant equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in an engineering consulting, construction, project management or similar environment
  • Possession of a valid driver's license
  • MFMA Certification will be an added advantage
  • Membership registration with a built environment regulatory or professional body will be an added advantage
